自己紹介・アピール

Hello, I’m Dustin Kidd. I’m from the Pacific Northwest region of the USA. I’ve been interested in other countries, other cultures, and other languages for as long as I can remember. I studied at Shimane University as an exchange student for a year, from 1998 to 1999. I also got my Master’s Degree from the Faculty of Education in 2017. 
I have been living in Japan since 2000, and most of that time has been in Shimane Prefecture. I started teaching here at the Faculty of Education at Shimane University full-time in October of 2022. In my free time, I enjoy traveling around, visiting new places, and learning new things. I always look forward to meeting new students and sharing with them the joys of teaching and learning, as well as how fun and interesting languages are.

現在の研究分野・テーマ

My current field of study is International Understanding, and I have been conducting research on short-term international exchange programs. My Master’s thesis was focused on a teaching method known as CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning 内容言語統合型学習). I hope to expand my research into both CLIL and local opportunities for intercultural understanding, both inside and outside of the classroom.
